4 July 2019. Website hacked and deleted. So, we are in the process of restoring the website.

Sadly, as a first time since starting this project in 2005, the ramsdigital.com website was hacked and deleted on the 3rd July, 2019. Email services have also been interrupted. We are working on getting the website back up and running. However, we are only amateur webpage writers. So this will take some time. But, you can see that we have recovered the front page at least and bringing all the other menu pages back up. So, please accept our apology for the shabbiness of the website at the moment.

28 June, 2009. Two Original Advertisements Compared.

Much of the reputation of the Original R.A.M.S. was slowly and solidly build by words of mouth and personal introduction. Little public advertising was conducted. Recently an 83 title advertisement that was placed in distributed texts has come to light to compare to the publically available 51 title advertisement in Essentia, Volume 5, in the Fall of 1983. It is of a later date (early 90’s) to the Essentia ad as it contains titles dated with a 1990 release date, yet not including “Marrow of Alchemy’ by Eirenaeus Philoponos Philalethes limits it to pre-1993 the release date of the title.
A comparison reveals that:
– the 51 titles available in 1983 increased to 83 titles in the later advert,
– some titles evolved of especially the Bacstrom texts,
– the price increased to .15c/page from the 1983 .12c/page,
– if there was no page count the title was not currently available as is the case of eight titles in 1983 and three texts in post-1990, and
– certain texts where marked as ‘important works’ by use of a w and ww.

17 June, 2009. Bacstrom’s Compendium Mystery Solved?

A few facts have been known:

  1. Over the period of the Original R.A.M.S. titles ‘evolved’, which generally mean they expanded, but certainly changed.
  2. The Compendium was released in Volumes. I, II and perhaps III. The details of the third volume where unconfirmed.
  3. The Compendium was 420+ pages.

Finally, two new Table of Contents of Compendium has been given to R.A.M.S. Digital that indicate that the scanned Compendium in the collection that totals 280 pages is a combination of Vol. I & II and that “Some Processes” of Johan Gottfried Tugel’s Experimental Chymistry etc. Leipzig 1766. and “Instructions Respecting the Art of Transmuting and Ameliorating the Metals” by William Baron von Schroeder, F.R.S., 1684. Published by FR. Roth Scholtzen Nurnberg 1733. may have been in the Original Compendium! The Catalogue is being reconstructed.

30 May, 2009. Paracelsus College suggest texts.

Parcelsus College have suggested new texts that they considered of value to include in the R.A.M.S. collection that have not been previously published:

  • Tyrocinium Chymicum – Jean Beguinus
  • The Secrets of the Adepts – Johannes Weidenfeld
  • Collectanea Chymica
  • The Pearl of Great Price – Bernhard Trevisan
  • The Complete Chemist – 1677 Christopher Glazer
  • Magnalia Naturae – Wenceslaus Seilerus 1680

These texts will be located and transcribed in the future. Can you help?

26 May, 2009. Titles remaining to be found. Can you help?

Here is the final list of missing or questionable text. One copy of Bacstrom is already in the library collection, but which one? Do either vol. III actually exist?
And what is the contents of the missing Paracelsus title?
Hermetic astronomy (40 p), Hermetic medicine (250 p), Hermetic philosophy (74 p) & The spirits of the planets (24 p)?
Your assistance is needed.
1. A Compendium of Alchemical Tracts from the Files of and translated by S. Bacstrom M.D. Vol I
2. A Compendium of Alchemical Tracts from the Files of and translated by S. Bacstrom M.D. Vol II
3. A Compendium of Alchemical Tracts from the Files of and translated by S. Bacstrom M.D. Vol III ?Not sure if this exists?
4. A Compass of the Wise described by a member of the true Freemasonry (Leone Muller)
5. Four Hermetical Writings – Paracelsus – (70 pages)?
6. Potpourri Alchymiae (vol. III) – Nintzel, Hans (compiler) – (250 pages) ? Not sure if this exists?

21 April, 2009. Diverse Tracts Title separated.

The Diverse Tracts Collected Title has been separated in the catalogue into five individual files: “Some Practical Observations on May Dew” by Thomas Henshaw.
